Don’t Like Your Life? Do Something Different

There is some question to whether the above quote by Einstein was really said by him, but either way, if you want things in your life to be different, your health, your career, your relationships, you have to change how you are doing things.

If you’re like me, and most other people with health issues, you probably have some dysfunctional ways of conducting yourself. Do you have a disordered way of eating? Maybe you have a tendency to let people run over you? Perhaps you allow yourself to go and go, doing all the things, until you have depleted all of your energy? Does anger get triggered easily? Do you blame other people for your problems? Is there a mean ogre living in your head, telling you that you’re fat, lazy and stupid? Do you ignore chronic health symptoms?

If any of these apply to you, it’s time to make a different choice.

You’ve Probably Tried To Change Before

When my life fell apart, about 10 years ago, I tried lots of things. I went to doctors, I tried diets, I went to therapy, and I started working on self-care. The thing that helped the most, was taking baby steps to make my life different.

In the beginning, I changed the foods I was eating. Again, I took baby steps. I inherently knew that artificial foods were not good for me. I cut out every artificial sweetener, or anything low fat, or modified from its natural form. I still ate fast food, drank real soda, and processed breads, etc. Next, I cut out fried foods, then soda, and eventually gluten. I continued that way for a few years, eating more fruits and vegetables, and lean meats.

I started waking up early to practice yoga. I added in reading, journaling and meditation a little at a time. I also went to doctors for testing. I tested for allergies, and celiac. Nothing showed up on these tests, but all of these little changes were making me feel so much better.

At some point, as a health coach, working with clients, and with my own diet, I noticed that some people were cutting out so
